Air America Weird and Wonderful

Even Operators Need Our Help
In June of 2000 we got a call from one of our carriers and one of his planes had gone mechanical. This is a costly event. As long as the plane sits idle he cannot be offering potential clients its services. The aircraft, an A320, needed a new wing tip in Toronto, NOW! The tip's dimensions were 136"x71"x27", weighing 810 Ibs., and was in Ashburn Virginia. We were called due to our work with the carrier and we were able to locate a DC 9 sitting at Dulles Airport, with an active crew. We arranged transportation from Ashburn to Dulles Airport and then had the wing tip loaded and in the air in 1 hour and 45 minutes and in Toronto, ready to be assembled, within 5 hours of the initial call.

Wendy's Runs Out Of Barbecue Sauce For Stampede
We were given a call by the supplier of BBQ sauce for Wendy's all in a panic that the Stampede was on and no sauce was there. The customer opted to fly it airfreight, and with Air America's cost-effective solution, Wendy's was able to serve their tasty sauce to Calgary's hungriest crowds.

Major Contractor Has Construction Delay
This project illustrates our ability to move anything, anywhere, anytime. Size really doesn't matter. Our client called from Kitchener to say they were behind in construction of a new gas line as a result of manufacturing delays of a valve in France . Big deal it's just a valve. Well it was 4'x4'x4' and weighed 36000lbs. It was a big ball.

The client figured we could just pick it up with hooks and drop it into the plane. Unfortunately, it's not that easy. We still have to deal with round fuselage and variable door sizes. A commercial airline was prepared to block over half of their cargo space to accommodate this freight. The problem was that they couldn't actually move the piece for at least a week. Well, from our customer's point of view, losing close to one million dollars a day, waiting for a few days was not an option. Our next best costeffective solution was a C 130 Hercules. With tail loading and its own crane, it was the most feasible option for this awkward piece, and guaranteed delivery within 24 hours. You can count on our Air Logistics Experts to solve your greatest dilemma.
